Substitutes
for boosting health without compromising the taste
Chocolate
is good for health with right contents
Studies
have shown that Dark Chocolate helps to lower blood pressure which eventually
boosts our health. It is true that Dark Chocolate has a bitter taste compared
to milk chocolate, but the bitter flavor is from flavonoids which are heart
protecting antioxidants. When buying a chocolate bar check the contents; more
cocoa content means higher heart protecting antioxidants that lead to a
healthier life.
White
chocolate has no flavonoid contents!!!
Almond
Butter a tricky substitute for Cream Cheese
Substituting
cream cheese with Almond Butter on Bagels is tricky, but if the benefits are
understood it is worth doing. First, Almond Butter has more fiber, calcium,
vitamin E and magnesium which are all a great boost to your health. Now coming
to the tricky part, Almond Butter increases your caloric intake as compared to
cream cheese, so you might think then why do that? You are right, but Almond
butter has a high protein content which will make you feel full, causing you to
eat less, and also high levels of saturated fat is removed and unsaturated fat
from Almond butter is added.
Greek Yogurt a good substitute for mayonnaise “Flavor
retained”
Greek Yogurt is a great substitute for mayonnaise or sour cream,
but you will still get the same flavor. Every cup of sour cream can be replaced
with yogurt, which is less than half the calories and it boasts 16 % more
calcium. We can still play around with spices and seasoning to make it
delicious but with an extra punch of protein by cutting the fat.
Mashed Bananas for Sugar, Butter and Fats

It is a known fact that Bananas
are naturally fat and cholesterol free, have a high potassium content, less
calorie content, contains vitamin c which boosts the immune system and has
manganese which helps in metabolism. But did you know that it is a great substitute
for sugar, butter and fat in baking? One thing to remember when using mashed
banana as a sugar substitute while baking, is to cut down milk or water content
a little bit so that you get the right texture.

Pureed Potato to Thicken Soup “No Cream”
It’s traditional practice to add cream in the soup to thicken it,
but is it healthy? Definitely not, instead we can add pureed sweet potato into
the soup to attain the same level of soup density. Sweet potato not only has
low fat content but also helps in reducing blood pressure and risk of stroke.
In addition, it is always better to check the sodium level in the soup because
high sodium content will thicken the blood, leading to high blood pressure.
Hope you liked these healthy substitutes.
